UNILEVER BESTFOODS JOINS DARYL SABARA & THE ENTERTAINMENT INUDSTRY FOUNDATION TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST CHILDHOOD HUNGER June 11, 2003

Carlsbad's La Costa Heights Elementary School Wins $10,000 Towards School's Nutrition Program

Carlsbad, CA-June 11, 2003- Unilever Bestfoods teams up with the Entertainment Industry Foundation and Spy Kid Daryl Sabara to award La Costa Heights Elementary School in Carlsbad, CA, a $10,000 grant to the school's nutrition program and to raise awareness of childhood hunger in America. Unilever Bestfoods, a founding sponsor of the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Hunger Free America program, will award the prize during an assembly on Thursday, June 12th. The donation is part of the Unilever Bestfoods' Reaching Out Sweepstakes Program, a national program that encouraged elementary and middle school students to nominate their school for a chance to win the donation, in addition to the opportunity to meet a child celebrity and to learn more about nutrition.

La Costa Heights student, Jake Sesti, who nominated the school in the sweepstakes, will also receive special recognition at the presentation ceremony.

The Reaching Out Sweepstakes is a part of Unilever Bestfoods' three-year sponsorship with Hunger Free America, a program of the Entertainment Industry (EIF), that aims to help provide food and security to the 13 million children that go hungry everyday, and to educate consumers about how to end childhood hunger. EIF's Hunger Free America brings together hunger organizations from across the country to expand participation in School Breakfast and Summer Feeding programs.

Compliments of Unilever Bestfoods, all 650 students at the winning school will be given a full day's worth of nutritious snacks and meals. After the special lunch, the students will attend an assembly to have a chance to meet EIF Ambassador Daryl Sabara, star of Dimension Films' "Spy Kids" franchise of movies, including the upcoming Spy Kids 3-D Game Over.

The students will also hear from leading nutrition experts and state officials about how good nutrition improves school performance. Students will also take home goodie bags filled with fun items that reinforce the importance of good nutrition.

"Unilever Bestfoods is pleased to play a role in helping to improve child nutrition, education and combat childhood hunger through the EIF's Hunger Free America program," says Marc Shaw, director of integrated consumer marketing for Unilever Bestfoods. "As one of the leading makers of well-known food brands such as Skippy, Lipton and Hellmann's, we take seriously the responsibility to address the needs of our consumers and communities."

In 2002, Unilever Bestfoods and EIF's Hunger Free America sponsored a symposium on childhood hunger that brought together Governors' spouses, Mayors and leading hunger experts to explore the problem of childhood hunger and find solutions. As a result, Hunger Free America Coalitions have been created in all 50 states. These state coalitions are sharing information and strategies to develop more effective child nutrition programs that can protect millions of children from the threat of hunger. According to Jeff Bridges, Chairman of Hunger Free America, "the Entertainment Industry Foundation's vital work done through its Hunger Free America program has been accomplished with tremendous support of Unilever Bestfoods. This has been a great partnership."

Also partnered in the effort are Miramax and Dimension Films. Stars of their popular "Spy Kids" trilogy serve as major Ambassadors for the program.
