ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY FOUNDATION'S NATIONAL COLORECTAL CANCER RESEARCH ALLIANCE MARKS NATIONAL COLON CANCER AWARENESS MONTH WITH INCENTIVE FOR CONSUMERS TO SUPPORT COLON CANCER RESEARCH AND AWARENESS
Receive gift of philosophy's laughing gas room freshener when making donation via www.nccra.org
The Entertainment Industry Foundation's National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (EIF's NCCRA) has a gift waiting for anyone who visits www.nccra.org and contributes $20 or more to support its colon cancer research and awareness efforts -- laughing gas, an air-freshening product from philosophy.
The offer benefiting the work of EIF's NCCRA kicks off March 1 in honor of National Colon Cancer Awareness Month, and run as long as supplies last. Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related death for women and men combined in the U.S.
That's why philosophy is donating 100% of net profits of the product to support EIF's NCCRA, helping fund its educational efforts about the importance of medical screening for those 50 and over and other at-risk individuals. Money raised through the on-line promotion will also support cutting-edge research on better tests and treatments for colorectal cancer, as well as other aspects of the disease.
"philosophy has been an outstanding partner of EIF's NCCRA for years in our struggle to defeat colorectal cancer," said Lisa Paulsen, president and chief executive officer of EIF. "For a small donation, you can help fight colon cancer and enhance the atmosphere of your home at the same time."
Taking its delicious aroma from one of philosophy's most popular shower gels, laughing gas will make any room smell like a bakery full of fresh cinnamon buns.
"We are committed to being more than just a beauty products company," said philosophy founder and CEO Cristina Carlino. "We may create a bit of bathroom humor with laughing gas bathroom spray, but it is all to support the excellent work of EIF's National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance."
Colorectal cancer kills more than 56,000 men and women each year, yet this is a disease that it often preventable through appropriate screening. Precancerous polyps can be found and removed before they turn into colorectal cancer. And when colon cancer is detected at an early stage, it is curable in 90% of cases.
Since EIF's NCCRA was launched six years ago, in March 2000, the program has had a tremendous impact in advancing cutting-edge colorectal cancer research and increasing public awareness about the importance of medical screening for those 50 years of age and over and other at-risk individuals.

The NCCRA is dedicated to the eradication of colon cancer by promoting education about the importance of screening and funding cutting-edge research. Katie Couric, Lilly Tartikoff and the Entertainment Industry Foundation established the NCCRA in March 2000. Since then, heightened public awareness has led to a 20% increase in colonoscopies nationwide and countless lives saved. University of Michigan researchers refer to this as the "Couric Effect." www.eif.nccra.org
