More than 60 million Americans have some form of cardiovascular disease, including high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, stroke, congestive heart failure, and other conditions. While the majority of heart disease-related deaths are preventable, only about one-third of individuals at risk seek help.
On Valentine's Day, the Entertainment Industry Foundation made a special promise to keep everyone's "hearts" healthy all year long with the launch of a new heart initiative. Michael D. Eisner, NCRI campaign launch chair and chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, unveiled EIF's National Cardiovascular Research Initiative (NCRI) at our first-ever Love Rocks: Celebrating the Biggest Hearts in Entertainment musical concert, attended by 3,000 entertainment industry executives, celebrities, other industry members and the media.
