Countdown Begins for Swisher to Cut and Donate
His Hair On Behalf of the EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund

WHAT:
Oakland Athletics outfielder and first baseman, Nick Swisher is teaming up with Pantene Beautiful Lengths™ to help create wigs for women living with cancer. Created in partnership with the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), Pantene Beautiful Lengths is a new non-profit campaign that encourages individuals to grow, cut and donate their healthy hair to make free wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.
WHO:
As a new ambassador for the EIF and its Women's Cancer Research Fund, Swisher wants to bring attention to the campaign and encourage others to follow his example by donating their own hair. The Major League Baseball player lost his beloved grandmother, Betty Swisher, in 2005 after her brave battle with cancer, and wanted to do something to honor her memory. "My grandmother was my inspiration and strength. She always encouraged me to follow my dreams," said Swisher. "She truly was the love of my life, and I know that she would be so proud of my support of EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund." Nick's father, former MLB catcher Steve Swisher, is flying across the country to make the emotional cut.

Hair donations are made into free, real-hair wigs by Pantene Beautiful Lengths/EIF campaign partner HairUWear® and are distributed at no cost to cancer patients through the American Cancer Society™'s network of nationwide wig banks.
