Sprinkles Cupcakes Raises $20,000 for Women's Cancer Research Fund
EIF Program Benefits from Record Sales of Pink Ribbon Cupcakes
LOS ANGELES, CA-During the first two weeks of October, Sprinkles' donated 100 percent of proceeds from its pink ribbon-adorned strawberry cupcake to the Women's Cancer Research Fund, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation.
Sprinkles has raised a total of $38,000 since the inception of the pink ribbon cupcake campaign in 2005. Proceeds have nearly doubled from year to year-thanks in part to Sprinkles' expansion into new markets in 2006 and 2007. "As we open more stores across the United States, it is our dream that we can set a new record every year," says Charles Nelson, co-founder and president of Sprinkles Cupcakes. "The Women's Cancer Research Fund is a program close to our hearts and we're thrilled by the amazing response from our customers. The funds raised will be dedicated to continued research and to finding a cure."
The Women's Cancer Research Fund, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, was established by Founders Kelly Chapman Meyer, Anne Douglas, Quinn Ezralow, Marion Laurie and Jamie Tisch along with Honorary Chairs Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg. WCRF supports innovative research, education, and outreach directed at the development of more effective approaches to the early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all women's cancers.
