QVC AND THE FASHION FOOTWEAR CHARITABLE FOUNDATION UNITE FOR THE 11TH ANNUAL QVC PRESENTS "FFANY SHOES ON SALE" BENEFITTING BREAST CANCER RESEARCH AND EDUCATION
Tony Danza Hosts, Donna Summer to Offer a Very Special Musical Performance
On Wednesday, October 20, 2004, QVC and The Fashion Footwear Charitable Foundation will celebrate the 11th annual QVC Presents "FFANY Shoes on Sale" with a gala hosted by Tony Danza. This fundraiser benefiting breast cancer research and education will be held at the Hammerstein Ballroom at Manhattan Center at 311 West 34th St. in New York City. The evening will include a very special musical performance by Donna Summer.
The black-tie affair begins at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed by the dinner and live auction, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to shop for designer shoes at half the suggested retail value at the Designer Shoe Salon throughout the event.
The gala coincides with a live televised broadcast on QVC (7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., ET), and will feature designer shoes at half the suggested retail value to benefit breast cancer research and education programs, including the Women's Cancer Research Fund of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF). Over the past decade, the televised fundraiser has sold in excess of 950,000 shoes and has raised more than $16 million for the cause. This year's evening alone is expected to raise $2.3 million.
"FFANY Shoes on Sale" is honoring Burton M. Tansky, President & CEO, The Neiman Marcus Group, and will present him with the FFANY Humanitarian Award in recognition of outstanding civic leadership. An additional highlight of the evening includes a special tribute to Vivian Infantino, the legendary fashion editor at Footwear News, whose decades of leadership defined the industry.
Actress Mischa Barton, star of the popular drama The O.C and an EIF Ambassador, has joined us in the fight against breast cancer by appearing in the QVC Present "FFANY Shoes on Sale" public service announcements found in leading print publications.
