WHAT: On Saturday, May 1, 2010, the 13th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women will take place in New York City. Presented by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), Revlon, and Lilly Tartikoff, the EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women has become one of the largest single-day fundraisers for women’s cancers in the country. More than 25,000 participants are expected to join and to help raise critical funds to support breast and ovarian cancer research, counseling and outreach programs in the NYC area and beyond.
WHO: Hosted by Revlon Brand Ambassadors Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, and Jessica Biel, along with America’s favorite doctor, Dr. Oz and Jesse L. Martin. The opening ceremonies will feature a special performance by recording artist Trey Songz.
WHEN: Saturday, May 1st Press check-in: 6:30 AM at 48th Street & Broadway Arrivals: 7:00 – 8:00 AM Opening Ceremonies: 8:15 AM / Official Start of Run/Walk: 9:00 AM WHERE: The 5K (3.1 miles) begins in Times Square and ends in Central Park’s East Meadow.
MORE: EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women was launched in 1993 through the combined efforts of Lilly Tartikoff, Ronald O. Perelman, chairman of Revlon, Inc. and EIF. Since inception, nearly $58 million in grants have been made from the combined events in New York and Los Angeles. Proceeds from past EIF Revlon Run/Walks have funded cutting-edge research, contributing to the development of the breakthrough gene treatment Herceptin® as well as other targeted therapies, bringing new and innovative treatment approaches to women’s cancers worldwide. Monies raised have also helped numerous organizations in providing education, advocacy and outreach services to those affected by women’s cancers. As part of their ‘Do Good. Live Well.’ initiative UnitedHealthcare is encouraging people to volunteer and create a stronger, healthier America. More than 100 United Healthcare volunteers will staff water stations throughout the race providing water to the more than 25,000 participants.
