Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Honored at "An Unforgettable Evening"
The 13th Annual Unforgettable Evening benefiting the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund raises much needed funds for innovative cancer research and recognizes remarkable individuals for their commitment to the cause.
GRAMMY® winners Tim McGraw and Faith Hill were presented the 2010 Courage Award. McGraw serves as Honorary Chairman of the Tug McGraw Foundation, created in honor of Tim’s father Major League Baseball pitcher Tug McGraw, who after his own diagnosis of a malignant brain tumor, dedicated his life to enhance the quality of life of men, women and children with brain tumors. McGraw and Hill together have tirelessly given time, attention and funds from a record number of benefit concerts for cancer and other causes.
Hill is a longtime supporter of EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund, performing at one of the first Unforgettable Evening events. Together they founded Neighbor’s Keeper out of their desire to help people in need and encourage the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors. The fund seeks to strengthen communities by contributing to diverse projects with a primary emphasis on children's initiatives.
Emmy® winner Christina Applegate was presented the Nat King Cole Award for her dedication to encouraging awareness and early detection for women at high risk for breast cancer. After her own breast cancer diagnosis through an early, doctor-ordered MRI, Applegate founded Right Action for Women. The foundation helps women who are at increased risk for breast cancer and do not have insurance or the financial flexibility to cover the high costs associated with breast screenings get the information and testing they need to beat the disease.
The event featured a performance by Taylor Swift, the top-selling digital artist in music history, who is nominated for eight awards at the 2010 Grammys ®. Additionally, Lee® Jeans was recognized for its major contribution of support to EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund through its annual Lee National Denim Day fundraiser for breast cancer.
