EIF SNAPSHOT – MAY 2023 |
FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO |
Dear Friends,
The EIF Careers Program (EIFCP), connects local schools to industry pathway programs and resources with the goal of building a bridge for underrepresented communities to opportunity in our industry. Over the last month, EIFCP has held a series of discussions with local educators, hiring managers and job seekers to better understand the challenges facing each group and build on the collective power of our working together.
More than 50 hiring representatives from 38 companies gathered at the Netflix headquarters in Los Angeles on April 19 where they were welcomed by EIF board members, Netflix’s Andy Kubitz and Participant Media’s Danice Woodley. The shared takeaways and best practices that emerged from our session, as well as the enthusiasm and collaborative spirit of all involved is what we need to bring our entire industry forward.
Our thanks extends to all of our industry partners and individuals who continue to support the work of EIFCP.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT |
EIF CAREERS PROGRAM |
The EIF Careers Program (EIFCP) recently hosted three roundtables with early career talent, entertainment industry employers, and local educational institutions to consider and discuss how we can collectively improve employment pathways and experiences for underrepresented students and candidates pursuing entertainment careers.
These conversations created space for educators, industry leaders, and young professionals to ideate and learn from each other about areas of support, best practices, curriculum design, and building pipelines into and across the film and television sectors.
During the convenings, the need for continued and meaningful collaboration emerged as an important takeaway to realizing real, sustained change for historically excluded communities and the industry at-large. Moreover, it was clear that commitment, accountability, ongoing deep supports and resources, and shared alignment across all stakeholder groups is needed to ensure that aspirations for the future will be met.
Led by a collaboration of studios, networks, and nonprofit career pathway providers, EIFCP serves as a bridge between pipeline training programs, program alumni, and industry employers seeking talent from communities historically excluded from the entertainment industry, with a particular focus on racial, ethnic, gender, disability, and socioeconomic status. The goal of EIFCP is to ensure underrepresented communities have the access and opportunity to participate, grow, and build long-term, family-sustaining careers in the industry. |
