Stand Up To Cancer, PSA Spotlight, EIF Careers Program, CTAOP

Dear Friends,

Our intention to spend more time in community over the summer has been fulfilled.

Our Stand Up To Cancer team recently traveled to Nashville to hold its ninth fundraising special. Hosted by Sheryl Crow, the evening underscored the ongoing need for research and advances that are changing the outcome for many who are diagnosed with cancer. The special brought together the Jonas Brothers, Noah Cyrus, Gavin DeGraw, Marcus King, Brothers Osborne, Jon Pardi, Jelly Roll, Dan + Shay, CeCe Winans, and so many others committed to raising awareness and funding life-saving research.

Ocean Wise, our fiscally sponsored fund with a mission to protect and restore our oceans, orchestrated a beach cleanup in Venice for our EIF team and friends, where we worked together to remove 22 lbs. of waste from our beaches.

In June, we joined the CTAOP Block Party, hosted by Charlize Theron at Universal Studios, that benefited her ongoing work to support youth in Southern Africa. It was an incredible night of music, laughter, and fundraising that helped to transform lives.

As students begin the new school year, we begin the process of matching 11th-grade students with mentors for The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program. Serving as a partner of The Hollywood Reporter and Big Brothers Big Sisters, we look forward to an exciting year of connection, learning, and fun with these young women and their incredible mentors.

Thank you to everyone supporting these programs and funds. Together, we are creating meaningful change.

PSA SPOTLIGHT
VETERANS AFFAIRS

After leaving the military, Veterans may face a variety of mental health challenges, whether it’s been 10 days or 10 years since they served. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) wants every Veteran to know that they are not alone and that help is available. In their efforts to reduce the stigma that some Veterans associate with mental health conditions and to encourage help-seeking behavior, the VA’s Office of Mental Health has developed two powerful PSA campaigns:

“Make the Connection”
MakeTheConnection.net is a vital resource for Veterans, featuring hundreds of real stories from Veterans who have faced mental health challenges and found hope through care and support. By sharing these Veterans’ personal experiences, the campaign breaks down stigma and builds understanding, showing Veterans and their loved ones that they are not alone and that help is available.

“Mental Health Awareness”
Accessible mental health support can be life-saving for Veterans facing invisible wounds from their service. This campaign is crucial in connecting Veterans with trusted resources at MentalHealth.va.gov to address and manage mental health conditions, from anxiety and depression to pos-traumatic stress disorder.

The ocean is life! One out of every two breaths comes from the ocean. It provides food and livelihood for billions around the world, covering three-quarters of the Earth’s surface and containing 97% of the Earth’s water. Healthy oceans and seas are essential to human existence, yet the health of the ocean is declining by nearly every measure. Ocean Wise is a global conservation organization on a mission to build communities that take meaningful action to protect and restore our ocean. Our vision is a world in which the ocean is healthy and thriving.
