Hockey Diversity Alliance is inspiring a new and diverse generation of hockey players and fans.

The Hockey Diversity Alliance strives to create sustainable change on all levels of hockey. At the top, they are educating and encouraging accountability from leagues and leaders. At the grassroots level, they are working to ensure hockey is accessible to anyone who loves the game.

Founded by Akim Aliu, in solidarity with Trevor Daley, Anthony Duclair, Matt Dumba, Nazem Kadri, Wayne Simmonds, Chris Stewart and Joel Ward, the Hockey Diversity Alliance is striving to make hockey accessible and safe for everyone by strengthening connections to each other, to their communities, and to their fans. They are providing resources & support, developing tools to succeed, and helping others reach their full potential in hockey & life. They are asking for all partner associations and organizations to sign their pledge to:

  • Create policy and rule changes that make the culture of the game more inclusive
  • Establish specific targets for hiring, promoting and partnering with Black individuals and businesses
  • Execute educational programming to increase awareness of racism in hockey
  • Fund impactful social justice initiatives

Hockey will be a stronger and better game when we fully embrace our diversity.
