EIF'S NATIONAL COLORECTAL CANCER RESEARCH ALLIANCE MOURNS LOSS OF FARAH FAWCETT
EIF's NCCRA joins the world in mourning the death of beloved actress Farrah Fawcett. Realizing that others could benefit from learning about her experience, Farrah shared a very personal look -- in a recent television special -- at how she coped with and was treated for anal cancer. The positive attitude so evident in the broadcast inspired millions of people. Her battle with the disease, which 5000 Americans are diagnosed with each year, began in 2006. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ms. Fawcett's longtime partner Ryan O'Neal and their son Redmond, her father, and other family members and friends.
On behalf of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Jon Bon Jovi and Matthew McConaughey made special appearances at the National Conference for Service and Volunteering. To an audience of more than 4,200 service leaders, they shared plans for EIF's new multi-year campaign to help make service and volunteerism a national priority.
