Why This Matters

Women continue to face systemic inequities across music and health, two sectors that shape opportunity, influence, and survival worldwide.

In Music:

• Women make up only 20% of music festival lineups, despite purchasing more than half of concert tickets and music services.

• Women represent just 22% of chart-topping artists, 12.8% of songwriters, and only 3% of producers.

In Women’s Health:

• Women’s health was not recognized as a distinct field of medical study until 1993.

• Less than 10% of NIH research funding focuses specifically on women’s health, though women comprise 51% of the population.

• In 2025 alone, $2.5 billion in women’s health research funding has been cut, threatening clinical trials, diagnostics, and treatment development.

Our Approach

Women Who Rock is the only organization of its kind uniting music and women’s health research into one powerful movement.

We:

• Curate 100% female-fronted benefit concerts to elevate women on and off the stage. Past performers include Melissa Etheridge, Sheila E., Jessica Simpson, and more.

• Partner with leading institutions like Magee-Womens Research Institute, the nation’s first and largest research institute dedicated to women’s health.

• Mobilize global advocacy through music, storytelling, and high-impact partnerships.
